Police Brutality? Police Brutalised…

This is one of our old archived articles from our old site but still very interesting nonetheless… 2007 was a year full of brutality across the world, with plenty of despicable and abhorrent events taking place. Not even those who prevent and protect our societies around the world were to be left immune from the violence, with a sharp increase in the number of police officers being killed in the United States. As of December 30, 2007, 181 officers had been killed in the line of duty with Texas being the most dangerous state for law enforcement registering 22 deaths. There were also a large number of law enforcement officers killed in traffic accidents, and a handful of incidents where more than one officer was killed at the same time, usually by the same assailent.

Over the coming months we hope to examine some of these incidents in finer detail in an attempt to work out what occurred and how we can prevent these tragedies from happening in the first place. A number of hi-tech measures have already been and continue to be tested, including handguns that will only fire when the registered ‘hand’ is pulling the trigger.
