To Catch A Predator: Final Part

The final part of the undercover sting; again goes off without a hitch, with a number of arrests including a retired teacher/professor. An organisation called Perverted Justice has also played a major role in this operation by luring in the would-be sex offenders, setting up profiles posing as young girls and actively taking part in the online chats that sometimes last up to a couple of months before the predator finally comes to meet.

So… like… what is forensic psychology?

This has to be my favourite discipline within the forensic field, and one that i am personally very involved with (i am currently working towards my Master of Forensic Psychology degree). But for the ‘newbies’ the role a forensic psychologist actually plays in the real world can be somewhat confusing – partly due to Hollywood’s version of what a forensic psychologist does. Forensic psychologists are classed as scientist-practitioners as they are constantly applying their skills and psychological knowledge to the understanding and functioning of the criminal justice system as a whole.

The Syndrome of Decay & Growth

Eric Fromm (1900 – 1980) was a well known personality theorist who was initially part of the Freudian school of thought before breaking away. Website Expansion

For those of you that frequent our site, it will come as no surprise to you that we have expanded the articles we were/are planning to write. Death Penalty Racial Bias?

I used to be all for the death penalty – i figured that the legal system did such a great job that never in my wildest dreams would innocent people be sent to prison, let alone be sentenced to death. Naive, i know, but i was young, misinformed and maybe even in a little bit of denial? But these days, although i’m still happy to see certain offenders ‘get whats coming to them’ i’m a lot more cautious. Cases such as the highly controversial ‘West Memphis Three’ as well as other cases i’ve read about over the past few years where death row inmates have been exonerated after years on death row have made me start questioning the criminal justice systems effectiveness for extraditing the truth.
